Hungarian Wellness Specialities
Aquarobic
These exercises can be done in public pools, but there are precautions to be observed. There is little point attempting exercises in the midst of an amateur water polo game, for example. The pool also needs to be accessible for the elderly, or those with disabilities. A strange quirk of working out in water is the 'diving reflex'. With this, the heart actually increases in size by a small amount and is therefore able to pump more blood with each beat, decreasing blood pressure with a lowered pulse rate. The lungs also benefit from the aerobic effect.
Dead Sea Salt Therapy
And there's a solid scientific reason that the body craves salt to ease its physical and psychological distress!
Weight Bath
It is one of the most known treatment methods, which was introduced by Dr. Károly Moll in Hévíz.
The Patient is anchored on neck, fortified on arms. He hangs in water, has on back and foot ankles weights of 2 - 20 kg fixed with a belt.
Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is the use of cooling as a means of treating injuries, and may be used in different ways on both acute and chronic injuries. Much research has been carried out on the effects of cooling on damaged soft tissues, and although the benefits are now widely accepted, there are varying opinions on how long the application should be to gain maximum benefit. There are many athletes who believe a long soak in a hot bath after an injury is the best remedy to ease the pain.
Finnish Sauna
The sauna is a specially built insulated room or cabin which is heated to 71 - 100 degrees Celsius (160 - 212 Fahrenheit) by means of rocks heated by preferably wood, but also by electricity and gas. It is used for bathing nude in the hot air, and periodic wafts of steam from water thrown on the rocks, which stimulates circulation and deep cleans the skin by opening the pores, resulting in mental and physical relaxation and well-being. It is a place to purify the body and soul. But there is more to it than that.
Bioresonance Therapy
Bioresonance therapy is used to diagnose and treat cancer, allergies, arthritis, and various chronic degenerative diseases. A variation known as electrodermal testing was developed as an aid in prescribing homeopathic remedies and is used in Europe and Hungary as well for the diagnosis of allergies. Bioresonance is based on the claim that electromagnetic oscillations emitted by diseased organs and cancer cells vary from those emitted by healthy cells due to their differences in cell metabolism and DNA damage. No evidence supports these claims. Treatment may involve removal and replacement of dental alloys or amalgams, which are said to carry currents that "alter the body's electromagnetic circulatory system."
Mayr Therapy
Around the turn of the century, Mayr was a medical student working in an Austrian sanatorium where it was his job to massage the abdomens of patients with intestinal problems. He often wondered how he would know when he had reached the goal of his treatment, that is, wellness. When he asked a professor what norms existed for the abdomen, he was told that there were none (although normal criteria existed for all other organs). Another professor told him that the abdomens were as different as noses on the patient's faces.Unsatisfied, Mayr decided that, as a physician, he would specialize in the treatment of the abdomen. Hence, the answer to such questions as "How do we recognize a healthy digestive system?" "What are the external signs of healthy intestines?" and "How are these reflected in the size, shape and condition of the abdomen?" became a lifelong search for Mayr.
Lava Stone Massage
The technique combines massage with the application of heated and cooled stones over the entire body, including the face, hands and feet. The stones become extensions of the therapist’s hands, almost "replacing" them. Due to this fact, the massage experience takes on an entirely different feeling than general hand massage. It invokes both a sensation of being a sedative as a result of the warmth and a revitalizer from the contrasting cool. The response during a relaxation treatment has been described as reverie or a "dream-like" state, floating in and out of consciousness. Also it seems to put a barrier between the therapist and the patient so energy is revitalized yet separated from the therapist as well, a shielding affect here.
